This past June, I had the opportunity to travel to Dallas, Texas with my school! I compete in HOSA (future health professionals), and this year the International Leadership Conference was held in Dallas. Travelling to Dallas was a beneficial and incredible experience that I will never forget. Travelling with friends is an experience in itself, I was fortunate enough to see Dallas with some of my best friends. I never fully understood the quote, “everything is bigger in Texas”, that is until I stepped off the plane. Dallas Fort Worth Airport was a giant of itself and found to be quite difficult to navigate. Other things that were “bigger” in Texas were the portion sizes, American pride, highways, and the selection of BBQ restaurants. Dallas is home to the Sixth Floor Museum at Dealey Plaza. This was where the tragic assassination of John F Kennedy, the 35th President of the United States took place. A white X is painted precisely at the point of JFK’s motorcade when this tragedy struck. Standing where thousands of Americans were, innocently celebrating their country was a feeling that will never escape my memory. I never thought that I would have the opportunity to visit a famous historic landmark like this and I will forever be grateful. I thoroughly enjoyed Dallas & would love to return!
